Description

I got a "hard crash," a CTD, upon logging into a modded NWN:EE persistent server: Ravenloft POTM. The crash occurred immediately after the map finished loading. I have successfully logged onto this server before on a different computer, so I suspect there's some hardware issue involved. To the best of my knowledge, the installed files are identical. The standard single-player campaign runs fine. Any light shed on the issue would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
D

Hi there!

Out of curiosity, were you given any kind of error message or warning when the game crashed?

I know that in at least some cases, sometimes when working with the steam workshop (If this is indeed what you're using), that files downloaded from the workshop occasionally will not register appropriately. This will sometimes include .tlk files, which can lead to a crash when your machine goes looking for a pre-requisite talk file, and can't find it.

If this is the case, try copying some of your steam workshop files from their location into the game's appropriate override folders.

If this isn't the case, could you let me know what kind of platform you're running on, what system you purchased the game through (steam, beamdog, etc), and if you got any other kind of error messages?

Additionally, could you try to start your own private Multiplayer session, and see if you can join it? Does this happen on any other multiplayer session?

Thanks!

Yes, screenshot attached to this post.

Yes, I'm downloading by default from the steam workshop. I've also used this particular server's own manual download, for redundancy's sake. I've double-checked the steam workshop files against the ones in the the NWN installation, and they're all present and accounted for.

Steam. The only error message received is the one attached as a screenshot.

I've tried starting my own session, and it works fine, if a bit slower than single-player.

I've yet to try joining any other persistent server, and can't do so immediately since practically all of them require a download of custom files, yadda yadda. I'll get back to you asap on that.

Thanks for taking the time to help!

PC, Windows 7. Steam. The only error message received is the one attached as a screenshot.
