COMPS01.item (NPC undroppable Bastard Sword) can break from Iron Crisis but inventory weapon still drops

Description

I believe this bug existed in vanilla as well. COMPS01.itm is an undroppable bastard sword used by Hobgoblins/Ogre Mages for their weapon animation to display correctly. This weapon has the same effect on it as normal iron weapons that gives it a chance on hit to break. While this is good behavior, the issue is if the weapon breaks, it will create a broken weapon in the inventory, but the "real" droppable weapon in the NPC's inventory will drop still for the player to loot. This looks really goofy when for example an Ogre Mage just starts bonking you for 2 unarmed damage and then drops a weapon anyway.

For simplicity sake COMPS01.itm should probably just not have a chance to break - or if engine limitations allow it, the "real" weapon in the NPC's inventory should be destroyed as well.

  • Additionally it's worth noting here that several Ogre Mage NPC's that use a Katana have it equipped as their main hand weapon and it displays no visual on their sprite. Of note: OGREMA03.cre, OGREMA_D.cre, and probably a few other named NPC's.

If you want to fix this issue, just create a new item (say COMPS03) that mimics SW1H43 (Katana) and give it to those creatures.
