Internal report: #22963

  1. Go to Options -> Sound, set the voice volume to 100%
  2. Go to Options -> Language, select Polski/Polish, click Done, quit and restart the game
  3. Start a new BG:EE game
  4. Ctrl+J to Gorion at [2600.1700]
  5. Talk to Gorion, choose reponse ( 1 ) to leave Candlekeep
  6. Listen to the voice-over in the following cutscene

Gorion switches to English during the talk at the gate.

All vanilla BG1 voice-overs should be in Polish.

There are hundreds of Polish sounds missing from the game. See the attached files. Note that these are in OGG format and need to be converted to the BG:EE standard.

The attachment contains 650 sound files. They should all be added to the Polish BIFs. Most of the files are simply missing. A few others will replace existing files in the BIFs, because the existing files are either in English or invalid for other reasons. Here are some notes for reference:

# Category Examples
1 Files that are missing from the Polish BIFs. These include almost all "hurt" and "dying" voice-overs, voiced sounds like laughter or snoring, and a few other recordings like the error messages. ALDET08, ALDET09
2 Files that exist in the Polish BIFs, but are either mute/broken or in English. That includes the Gorion snippets. GANDL01, GANDL02
3 Files that are missing from the Polish BIFs, but they are mute in Polish. These files should be included anyway to restore the Polish BG1 behavior and prevent any English voices from being heard. HUSAM10, HUSAM11, HUSAM12, HUSAM13
4 Polish sounds that do not have an English counterpart. These recordings exist in Polish, but there does not seem to be a corresponding English file. IMOEN29
5 Voice-overs for the tutorial from BG2. These files exist in the Polish BIFs but are in English. I assume the provided Polish files were taken from Polish vanilla BG2. TTBELT*, TTBRAN*, TTIMOE*, TTMINS*, TTSER1*, TTXAN*

Yeah, and there's Gorion talking in english and then switching to polish. Also there's english voice-over for "You need to gather your party before traveling forth". This mod fixes all issues, why don't you implement it? http://www.shsforums.net/files/file/1112-polish-language-localization-for-bgee/

Note that we cannot simply take all sound files from the Polish vanilla BG1 and add them to BG:EE, because that would make the Polish archive much larger than it needs to be, since it would contain a lot of duplicates of the general sound effects that are not language-specific. Also, BG:EE might have altered some of the original general sound effects. These changes would be overwritten if we copy over the sounds from vanilla BG1.

Therefore I am going through the files individually to isolate all sounds that are actually missing, so we can add those properly. I managed to eliminate 1000 files today, so I am down to 3000 files remaining at the moment. This will take some more time. I will come back to this ticket once I've gone through them all.

Don't worry - I am very familiar with this problem because we have the same situation in the German version as well.

How do you check which files need to be added wnd which not? The task is easy when they sound English, but there are lot of files one have to listen first to hear the difference. Check ghoul or ghast voices for instance, or GANDL files (snoring specifically) - these were recorded in Polish. Let us know if you need help to filter them out.

I play every WAV file in NearInfinity. If it does not contain any Polish, and it is anything other than a mechanical sound effect, I play the Polish OGG to hear if it is different. That includes the creature and monster sounds.

I still have 2500 files left, though. So as I said, this will take some time.

No worries Filip, just wanted to be sure you'll filter all missing .wav's. Take your time.

Great job Filip! I think you've nailed it! Can we expect these voices to be added in the next patch?

Thank you, Cahir. I can't really say anything specific about future patches, but you can keep an eye on our Upcoming Patch Preview to see which fixes are being worked on. https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/51466/upcoming-patch-preview
