Description

1. Load the attached save.
2. Speak to Laurel (1).
3. Select Oondul (6), and use the Wand of Frost (F10 -> click on a gibberling).
4. Repeat step 3 until all the gibberlings are dead.
5. C:GetGlobal("Gibberdead","AR4600")

Observed
A value greater than 12 is returned, and Laurel will not complete the quest if spoken to again.

Expected
The value should be set to 12 so Laurel can thank the player.

Dialogue laurel.bcs state 7 has trigger Global("Gibberdead","AR4600",12)
The Wand of Frost should correctly tally up the dead gibberling count, but the script could be amended to check at least 12 gibberlings have been killed in case there are other ways of killing the gibberlings that double/triple count the kills.

Original report:
I can accept the quest "The Gibberling Hordes" in area 4600 from Laurel, but after killing off the spawned Gibberlings I can't interact with her.

I did find a file someone submitted online for the override folder which fixes it, but still not quite. With that file I can accept the quest, but the Gibberlings do not spawn at all. I'm able to insta-complete the quest by speaking to her right after accepting it, though, with that file. But that's just boring.

Checked the quest and it completed as expected. Do you have a save afterwards that you can zip & attach for inspection please.

I have a save that completed the quest using that little file. But that would probably count as an altered save, right?

Yes, would need a save where the quest is given but not completed.

Oh, bugger.

But still, the fact that someone took time to create an override-file for that particular NPC seems to suggest that I'm not the only one who has encountered this particular issue. I guess I'll have to se if I can remember to copy a save on my next run through the game. If it persists, that is.

Looks like she should talk if 12 gibberlings were killed, can be checked via console command
C:GetGlobal("Gibberdead","AR4600")

Huh... so, you're saying that I have to kill 12 Gibberlings with that quest? But how many spawn exactly at her location?

I always thought I only had to kill them off, and that would be it. If that's the case, then there might not be a problem at all, I just didn't kill enough. I just always figured the wave spawned was enough. I can't really remember what I did in other runs of the game.

OK. The game seems to always spawn 12 gibberlings but if I use the Wand of Frost, killing one gibberling counts as 3 plus it remains in a "dead but attackable" state so can be killed again.

The wand may not be the only way this happens, I checked Wand of Fire fireball/scorcher and both those were OK.

Could you advise what attacks you may have used so I can check those.

As far as I remember correctly, I was low on spells after running through that particular area, so it was pure melee and ranged.

1. Main: Long Sword.
2. Khalid: Long Sword +1.
3. Garrick: Heavy Crossbow.
4. Dynaheir: Sling, Bullets.
5. Jaheira: Darts.
6. Minsc: Composite Long Bow, Arrows.

Just ordinary weapons, except for Khalid's Long Sword +1, no wands or some such. I have yet to even use a wand in that particular playthrough, and I'm currently close to going back to Candlekeep.
